Artist Statement/BIO

I wanted to take my experience with years of studying music and art and create life from something. Creating art is like creating a life reflective of ours and nature’s survival and growth. My goal is to capture the spirit and imagination of the viewer, by attracting through the senses. Tangible work, touching the objects is an important aspect of my work.

I embrace sculpture because it affords the opportunity to play with collect found materials. I consider all artists as collectors. I am interested in the power of objects and the effectiveness of shapes and form. I like being able to create meditative environments.  This often includes using natural elements/materials and occasionally incorporating work into the landscape.

Besides building and curating, I have also created several artist books containing drawings, paintings, prints and collage. Many of my sculptures come from my drawings. Some of my handmade books are stories and narratives of my interpretations of the origins of life and the creation story.
